Douglas-fir is one of the world’s best-known and most widely used wood species. The wood has a fine to medium texture, straight grain, and is nonporous. Due to its strength, Douglas fir is primarily used for building and construction. Southern Yellow Pine imported from the USA has very high strength compared to other softwoods so it can be used for making low-cost but long-lasting doors and windows.

Pinewood imported from New Zealand is the cheapest among the imported softwoods and is in high demand for its use in the packaging and plywood industries. It can also be used for Interior framing purposes.
